Greg Sanderson

Firefighter and paramedic, Los Angeles City Fire Department.

Greg is a 22 year veteran of one of the most progressive Fire Departments in the country. Assigned to high activity assignments throughout his career including three years as an EMS and Fire dispatcher. He has been a member of the departments Swift Water Rescue team for over 18 years including Instructor cadre.

Greg is a member of FEMA USAR TF-1. He is Rescue and Medical Specialist qualified with Advanced scope of practice.

Greg deployed on 9-1-1 to New York City and completed a ten day deployment at the World Trade Center.

He was one of the first FEMA members to attend the Operational Emergency Medical Specialist course in Quantico Virginia.

Greg is currently assigned to LAFD Air Operations as a Firefighter Flight Paramedic. He has over 2000 hours in Bell 412’s and Jet Rangers.

Currently his duties include Crew Chief, Hoist Operator, Helispot manager at brush fires, and flight paramedic with numerous high profile rescues. These include swift water and mountainous operations. Animals included.

Collateral duties include person in charge of Aircrew training. This involves all aspects up to and including check flights, and policies and procedures. Greg is also the equipment coordinator. Responsible for testing, repair, and fabrication of new equipment.

Greg was a design team member on LAFD’s AW-139 project. Two aircraft due in 2008. Contributed with design specifications on Hoist, medical interior and Communication systems.
